Dear Future Fliegers,
Sometimes when one Commander sends an image to another, it gets scrambled along the way. This is kind of what happens to images we receive from our watchmaking lab these days. Obscurely lit, taken in a dark corner somewhere. Never mind: you get the idea, right?
Lots going on @ HQ these days, chaps! The case in the image above is the one for the prototype. There’s still no caseback or movement onboard (let alone a dial and hands) – but in yet another 1 or 2 weeks, there will be. It’s all about the grade 5 titanium hardware and the production-ready strap today.
Please don’t mind the hairy arms of my watchmaker by the way. I didn’t hire him for his looks, you know 😉 What about the dimensions and sleekness of the case? This particular case will be a tad less bulky than the one we used for the previous LTD we issued. Do you like the badass 10 mm crown too?
Before a case is wearable, it goes through a number of stages. You can clearly see the space between the lugs is not prepared. Yup – it’s proper handmade!
Those of you with good vision must have seen the grade 5 titanium hardware has not been beadblasted yet. The results of that secret little mission will be unveiled in one of the next Pre-Flight Updates. Also you might have noticed the subtle bevels on the lugs here and there, just to soften things up a bit.
Regarding the handmade olive Flieger straps my friend Remie Beijer of 7T2Straps.com has prepared for you, we proudly announce the production-ready final model today. Please note the hardware Remie has used in his photography is not of the ACE, but of a pre-prototype aluminium case of the Periscope, our former model. Same goes for the buckle. The dark rivets Remie uses, are production types and will match the dark beadblasted ti5 case beautifully. Just wait and see.
Did you notice the small “ace of spades” Remie’s smashed into one of the band keepers? He uses a metal alphabet and a hammer for those initials of yours. I took ACE for the prototype for obvious reasons. You can eventually select yours. Or none.
So happy with the strap. Goin’ strong Remie, thanks!
That’s it for now, folks. Have a blast this week-end, don’t drink too much, and if you do, please be ready for next week’s missions. HQ will have an eye on you!
