Blue Ace

The SUBDELTA Blue Ace is a logical iteration of the 2017 Ace, which is a beadblasted, black-faced grade 5 titanium pilot’s watch. This time, we chose for a stainless steel version with a saturated blue dial. The length of the case has been decreased by 2mm in comparison with the Ace, making it even more wearable. For optical reasons, we fitted this Blue Ace with a grade 5 titanium crown all the same. You can choose between a beadblasted or polished crown.

It has a “destro” crown setup. This means the crown is positioned on the left side of the watch. In the 40s, this was common practice among purpose-built pilot’s watches, to avoid the over-engineered crowns to dig into a pilot’s wrist during combat situations. This is potentially dangerous and could lead to a failed mission. The Blue Ace follows war-time design cues, but is not overly big. Its sword hands and sandwiched dial are generously filled with Swiss Super-LumiNova BGW9 to obtain maximum legibility under all circumstances.

The chosen movement is a period-correct Swiss Unitas (ETA) 6497 and was heavily modified by a small, specialized Swiss factory. It needed to be ordered many months in advance due to a long waiting list. We already secured 20 movements for you. Apart from the central, hacking seconds modification, we chose to purchase the “full option” version with unparalleled decorations and finish. We even stretched it by having the hour wheel hand-engraved with an ace of spades. That’s where the name of the watch comes from.

The SUBDELTA Blue Ace is placed within a robust, Canadian Nanuk 903 flight case with a custom foam interior. It not only holds the SUBDELTA Blue Ace, but also a tan, handmade, Dutch leather strap on a beautiful, handmade SUBDELTA buckle, a grey premium NATO strap, a warranty credit card (unique to each build number) and … a few top secret goodies 😉 All in all a great thing to unbox we would say.

We will produce the Blue Ace in 2 batches, 12 in total. Sold out and discontinued.
